The biggest story in Colorado right now is the weather, and specifically repeated avalanche activity in the Colorado high country.

On Friday, an avalanche carried a pick up truck off Loveland Pass. From ABC News, "One person was in the truck but was not seriously injured, CAIC reported. The person was not found in the vehicle, but authorities were able to contact them after identifying the license plate on the truck."

The unending snow caused I-70 to close in both directions over the weekend, with Keystone locals complaining about traffic diversions over Highway 6 into Keystone. "I was just trying to go to the market. A five minute drive took me close to an hour," one keystone resident told the Colorado Free Press.

Loveland was later closed after the avalanche, but reopened on Sunday. It's been a snow winter in Colorado this season, with 17 feet of snow falling in some areas. From Fox31:

"Copper Mountain confirmed to FOX31 that they were the first resort to hit 200 inches of snow during the 2024-25 winter season, claiming the title of the “snowiest resort in Colorado.” To compare, 200 inches is roughly 16.6 feet. So, since opening day on Nov. 8, 2024, nearly 17 feet of snow has fallen."

The massive Valentine's Day storm increased avalanche risk across the state. The Journal is reporting that nearly 60 avalanches were reported in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains during the storm.
