A massive manhunt ended in the apprehension of Henry Corral, after Corral allegedly killed one and injured two in an Alamosa shooting Sunday. The interagency investigation involved federal, state, and local law enforcement.

Corral fled the scene in a vehicle, which he crashed, then attempted to carjack a citizen who came to check and see if he was okay.

No motive for the shooting has been provided.

Corral is charged with “first-degree murder, attempted murder, tampering with evidence, attempted aggravated robbery, and possession of a weapon by a previous offender,” according to authorities who spoke to Fox 31.

Buried in that Fox 31 piece is Corral's criminal history, which is extensive and includes, “prior convictions for reckless manslaughter in 2004 and felony assault in 2016. He separately faced charges of domestic violence, violation of a protection order and felony assault from two recent criminal cases in Alamosa County, court records show.”

Colorado officials have enacted several firearm regulations in recent years, including enhancements to red flag laws. Despite his criminal history, Corral was able to obtain a firearm and commit this shooting — further proof that criminals don’t follow laws, and that disarmament makes us all less safe.
