GRAND JUNCTION, CO -- The prosecution began the sixth day of Tina Peters trial arguing to quash the subpoena against Michael Frontera, Dominion Legal Counsel, which was contested by Peter’s Defense team. After a heated exchange between the court and defense counsel led to an impromptu ex parte, Judge Barret granted the Prosecution's motion to quash.

The Defense asked the court to compel the appearance of Gerald Wood, who was released from Subpoena after his testimony and an effort to serve him before he left the courtroom was ruled improper. The court stated that it has no authority over the matter, and sources close to the defense say Tina’s team can’t find him. The Defense is committed to questioning Wood further about Signal messages that are purported to contradict his testimony.

Belinda Knisley, the former Mesa Deputy Clerk, testified to her actions around the Trusted Build in 2021, and confirmed that she had no firsthand knowledge of a plan to use Mr. Wood's credentials for someone else. During cross examination, Knisley testified that Peters was surprised and upset when she discovered that the Mesa County Trusted Build information she secured was discovered online. This testimony was corroborated by Sandy Brown, the former Mesa County Elections Back Office Manager, who testified after Knisley.

Brown confirmed much of the other witnesses’ testimony, including Cannon, Wenholz, and Bantz’s testimony about a May 2021 meeting with Dr. Doug Frank. According to Ms. Brown, Bantz and Wenholz were uncomfortable in the meeting and left, at which time Tina gestured for Brown to leave with them.

Brown was present during the images and the Trusted Build, and she testified to the actions and movements of Peters and Conan Hays, the man introduced as Gerald Wood, during those events.

Both Knisley and Brown are testifying against Peters as a requirement of their plea agreements, following years of investigation and criminal proceedings that led to both of their arrests and landed Brown in jail for 30 days.

Both witnesses testified repeatedly to the involvement of Sherronna Bishop, a member of Peters’ campaign team. Bishop is expected to testify for the defense.

We are one week in and we’re a few hours away from the Defense’s turn to bring their case. The prosecution plans to call two additional witnesses before Tina’s attorneys take the wheel.
