Denver has long had a noteworthy restaurant scene, as the people of Colorado enjoy innovative and eclectic cuisine.
Unfortunately, that may be coming to an end. Denver restaurants have been struggling for a while, and now local legend Troy Guard is leaving the state.
“My wife and I are moving to Houston,” Chef Troy Guard told the Colorado Sun. “The company will still be based in Denver, but we want to grow more of the company in Houston because it’s a better climate for business and restaurants over there. … Honestly, I love Denver. I’ve been here 23 years. But it’s becoming more and more difficult every year to open restaurants. The last three restaurants have taken way too long by the city to OK, and I’m just kind of over that.”
It’s not the people. It’s not the scene. It’s the government.
And we’re all worse off as a result.
