A new lawsuit alleges "Shannon McShane, a former Colorado parental evaluator, repeatedly lied in court documents that she had a doctorate in psychology when judges appointed her to make custody recommendations and then targeted for retaliation a father who reported her lies to regulators," according to the Denver Gazette, citing a 15-count felony grand jury indictment that was unsealed on Tuesday.
In other words, an authority that courts rely on to assess the fitness and integrity of parents in custody, and other, disputes, is a fraud. Worse, retaliation is at the heart of the allegations, meaning she used her position of authority to punish a parent and cover her own criminal conduct. Allegedly. Probably.
The biggest question Colorado residents should be asking is: Who is responsible for vetting McShane and installing her into a position for which she is unqualified. Did anyone check?
Of course McShane is innocent until proven guilty and an indictment is a fancy word for allegation. But at this point, with the absolute state of Colorado bureaucracy, does anyone doubt that this is not only possible but likely?
Interestingly, McShane's indictment involves many of the same charges for which Tina Peters was convicted in August, so we will be able to compare severity and treatment of the two women across different judicial districts. Get popcorn.
Corruption can't last forever. The truth will out. Always.
