The Colorado Senate had to end public testimony on Senate Bill 25-003 Tuesday, after around eight hours of public comment. Emotional appeals and stories of tragic loss were shared by the proponents of the bill; the opposition brought facts on the impact of the misguided legislation on public safety, the firearms industry, and individual gun owners.
The proponents of the bill wrapped up their public comment at 8:30p, while the public opposition continued until the Senate cut public testimony at 11pm. Many didn't get a chance to testify, and we are submitting open records to determine how many opposed were refused their opportunity. We will report any response we receive. I wasn't called before 11p, and I was waiting on the line since 2p. Overwhelming opposition.
Senator Sullivan said, this bill is “just the next step.” What a refreshing admission. It’s the next step in a radical disarmament agenda to make Colorado more vulnerable to deranged criminals. This legislation comes at a time where Colorado government repeatedly prioritizes the rights of deranged criminals over the law abiding.
We’ve heard a lot of weaponized empathy during the hearing; appeals to emotion rather than reason; sharing stories of tragedies as though tragedy is cause to violate the rights of the people. Emotional pleas are persuasive and pull at heart strings, but restricting the rights of lawful gun owners will to do nothing to solve the very real pandemic of deranged criminals in Colorado.
The logical conclusion of decriminalizing crime.
I listened to the entire proceeding, and I was particularly struck by the testimony of the Colorado children. Many high school students, from a couple different schools in Denver, testified, and it was heartbreaking. These children have been so criminally traumatized and exploited by activists who will never let a crisis – or a tragedy – go to waste.
It’s not actually gun violence that traumatizes most kids in Colorado. It is the story of gun violence, constantly being told to them, keeping them in terror.
Colorado government claims that the reason the refuse to fortify schools is that they don’t want to scare the kids; at the same time, they willfully keep them vulnerable and constantly tell them to be afraid. It is the exploitation of gun violence – of tragedy – that keeps children in a state of trauma, grooming the next generations to willingly forfeit their rights in exchange for false security.
This conduct and its intention is obvious, and it’s despicable. These activists should be ashamed.
The second amendment was passed to ensure the security of a free state. We’ve become too familiar in recent years with a government drunk on power, openly hostile to the rights of the people.
Side note: The US Military is operating on US soil right now, and Colorado Democrats claimed that the Commander in Chief is "literally Hitler," so what are they doing? It's almost like they don't believe the things they say.
You can read the proposed legislation below. Tell your Senators to vote no.
