The wolf experiments is a complete failure. The project is way over budget, the second and third order consequences of human manipulation of the natural ecosystem here are being felt by all stakeholders, and, critically, the wolves keep dying.
Specifically, the female wolves – the ones the governor and his husband expect to repopulate the state with wolves – keep dying.
From the Denver Gazette on Thursday:
"The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced Wednesday that it had completed necropsies on two female wolves that died in the spring. Both were among the 15 wolves relocated to Colorado in January from British Columbia. Female 2514 was found dead in Rocky Mountain National Park on April 20. The cause of death, according to the necropsy, was a mountain lion attack. That's the second wolf to be lost to a mountain lion since the reintroduction of wolves began in December 2023. Another wolf, one that came from the group of wolves from Oregon, was killed in Larimer County a year earlier. Female 2512 died in northwest Colorado around May 15."
Many in Colorado blame the Governor's husband, Marlon Reis, for the dead wolves. He is billed as a "conservationist," but his pet projects haven't resulted in conservation improvements. Seriously, the kidnapped wolves keep dying.
Polis dismisses the criticism, just as he dismisses Reis record of nasty and political public comments. From Colorado Politics:
“I don’t read all the social media that my husband writes,” Polis said. “Of course, he has areas he doesn’t agree with me. But I can say, like me, he has utmost respect for Colorado’s farmers and ranchers. Marlon is also a tireless advocate for conservation as First Gentleman. I appreciate that he makes the most of that volunteer position.”
And it’s not just Reis. It’s the unofficially official position of the administration. From the same article:
“People in the Polis administration truly believe that the more cattle we have, the more climate change we are going to have,” said Pelton, the Republican from Sterling. “That’s a huge issue moving forward."
Rather, the fruit of Reis’ time in his “volunteer position” is wolf genocide, generational farmers and ranchers leaving the state, and the crippling of critical industries for fear of “climate change.”
It's both wasteful and cruel.
But I guess that is a small price to pay to keep the First Gentleman happy.

Colorado has become the hellhole in the rocky mountain west it is nothing but a communist dump .The Mayor of Denver is a damned fool a sanctuary city over ran by illegals then they brought in the wolves voted in by Denver libs with no idea whatsoever as to what they would do to the livestock population or did they care and its not just the livestock industry that is hurt by theses wolves it will effect the elk and deer population . I have lived in the Denver area for thirty two years and what was once a great place to live has become a nearly complete communist dump and we are going to move out of here as soon as we find what we want else where. The state is ran by communists from Bolder and Denver the vote is rigged no reason to stay here for a guy like me nor do they care one less taxpayer.
