As expected, we aren't done with the Extraordinary Session in three days. Bills have been held over to Sunday - with a target completion of Tuesday - and the current buzz is around AI.

Honestly, I'm more excited about defunding the wolf genocide, but AI is what the people are talking about. From The Colorado Sun:
"The No. 2 Democrat in the Colorado Senate on Saturday shuffled the members of a key committee in order to try to advance his measure tweaking Colorado’s first-in-the-nation law regulating artificial intelligence, which is set to take effect in February."
The article places different Democrat factions on opposite sides of the AI bill issue, but the crazy part of the story is that Robert Rodriguez (D-Denver) is hand selecting a committee to pass a bill.
"The bill has been stalled in the Senate Appropriations Committee because it wasn’t clear if there were enough votes to pass it on to the Senate floor."
Well, sure, but you can probably find the votes if you swap out the committee members for ones that agree vote for your stuff. It's basically what they did to pass the reconstruction amendments in the 1860s, and it doesn't seem corrupt at all. (That is sarcasm. The move appears incredibly corrupt... despotic even.)
"Bridges, who is running for state treasurer, was seen as one of the possible “no” votes. The newly added Democrats on the committee — progressive Sens. Katie Wallace and Mike Weissman — said they will vote to advance the measure."
A committee seat is a thing of value that belongs to the people. Exchanging that thing of value for a vote on tech-bro legislation shouldn't be lawful.
"Because of how long it’s taking to negotiate on the bill, the special session will now run through at least Tuesday — unless efforts to change the AI law are abandoned. The special session began Thursday."
So, their corrupted value exchange is also going to cost taxpayers more, because now they're going to spend more time "working." They aren't supposed to be doing this nonsense the summertime. We're supposed to get a break. We should all be mad at them for ruining our summer.
Off-topic, but appropriate, side note: Today is also the anniversary of King George III declaring the colonies in rebellion.
