Most of the nation is going to notice a change in their tax burden when they file next year.

But not you, Colorado.

Productivity in Colorado is frowned upon and penalized. That’s what happens when your state is run by DSA Grinches who think they’re entitled to take your stuff and give it to their friends.

Colorado residents, probably. [Screen grab from “A Year Without A Santa Clause,” edited.]

From Newsweek:

“A major tax package signed on July 4 is set to deliver new deductions to millions of Americans, but residents in several states and Washington, D.C., won’t see the same savings on their state returns… Colorado has rejected the no-tax-on-overtime provision. A new line on the state tax form — ’Excess federal deduction for overtime pay’ — will require taxpayers to report the federally excluded amount and add it back on their state return.”

You read that right. Colorado is making residents’ count federal tax cuts as state income. That’s astonishing. Even in the small group of states that is rejecting the federal cuts, Colorado’s response is distinctively vindictive.

And it may violate the Colorado Constitution. A lawsuit filed in response to its passage is asking the court to nullify the law. From Journal-Advocate:

“Income declared on earners’ state tax return is typically influenced by what is on their federal tax forms. The suit alleges that restarting the overtime taxation at the state level constitutes the creation of new revenue, which would require voter approval, and it asks a judge to invalidate the law.”

Boggles the mind that Colorado residents will continue to support and defend the actions of progressive politicians during the act of outright theft.

In related news, according to the Common Sense Institute, people are fleeing this communist country for destinations that don’t punish productivity.

Welcome to Colorful Colorado!
