Late last week, counsel for Tina Peters John Case joined Steve Bannon's WarRoom podcast to discuss the latest with Tina Peters.
"JOHN CASE: Tina Peters had been in solitary confinement for the last 15 days, which is the longest they can keep you there under prison regulations. Tina has done is exposed the injustices of prison life for the women there. When, when the prison heard that, the DOJ had opened an investigation into the conditions at prison, they suddenly went on a cleaning spree. They had the inmates go on a cleaning spree. They were scrubbing black mold off the walls."
WATCH:
Sources with knowledge of the prison, who were granted anonymity out of fear of retaliation, tell Colorado Free Press that the prison has been a flurry of activity the past week, with "Honor Pod" members scrubbing the prison, sometimes in the middle of the night, as though they're preparing for inspection.
It's not surprising. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) launched a significant probe earlier this month, focusing on unsafe conditions, inadequate care, and potential civil rights violations across many state facilities, including La Vista, where Peters is being held. Additionally, ongoing legal battles concern forced labor and discrimination against incarcerated individuals with disabilities, with a recent settlement in 2022 for deaf inmates and ongoing litigation about involuntary servitude claims.
Regardless of politics, prison reform advocates support the probe. It seems that, on this topic in Colorado, we can all agree that inmates have human rights, too.
This is a developing story.
