A recent report, based on the latest FBI data and released last week from U.S. News & World Report, ranked Colorado as the third most dangerous state in the country – with only New Mexico and Louisiana deemed more dangerous.
The rankings highlighted Colorado’s violent crime rate at 492 per 100,000 people and a property crime rate of 3,148 per 100,000 people. According to the FBI, factors such as population density, economic conditions, climate, and family cohesiveness all contribute to crime rates in different areas.
Meanwhile, New Hampshire was ranked as the safest state in the nation.
Despite its crime rate, U.S. News & World Report insists that Colorado remains highly regarded in other aspects, ranking Colorado as the 16th best state overall and Colorado Springs was named the No. 3 best city to live in the U.S.
In contrast, New Hampshire is #1 for safety and #2 overall.
