Governor Jared Polis has ordered flags be flown at full-staff for Inauguration Day. Flags are currently at half-staff across the country due to the death of former President Jimmy Carter. Originally, they were meant to be flown at half-staff through January 28, 2025, however, a growing number of state governors have ordered flags be flown at full-staff for the inauguration of President Donald Trump.

In a statement, on Friday, Governor Polis announced that “...flags will be raised to full-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, January 20, Inauguration Day, and then lowered again to half-staff for the remainder of the 30 days of mourning for President Carter, until January 28.

As of Saturday, 22 states have opted to fly flags at full-staff on Monday, including Colorado’s neighboring states of Utah, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. Flags will also be flown at full-staff at the U.S. Capitol for the inauguration.
