A Douglas County woman is still struggling with tax issues after the bureaucracy accidentally declared her dead in 2021, according to reporting from CBS News Colorado earlier this month.

Social Security Office via Yelp

Big mistake by the Social Security Administration, a federal agency with two core functions:

(1) Assign Social Security Numbers, and

(2) Run the administration of Social Security for retirees, survivors, and disabled Americans.

You can be certain that, if Judy owed money to the IRS, they’d have one (or more) of the 87,000  armed IRS agents knocking on (or down) her door.

The worst part of this nightmare is that this woman’s grieving process has been hijacked and subverted by bureaucratic incompetence.
