Today in the State, Civic, Military, & Veterans Affairs committee, Repeal National Popular Vote Compact is being heard. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Ken DeGraaf, concerns the repeal of the agreement among the states to elect the president by national popular vote.
The NPVC is an end run around the Electoral College, and if it was activated at the time of the 2024 election, then Colorado's EC votes would have gone to Trump.
We are expecting this bill to fail in committee, but it's a good effort. We are a Republic, not a major democracy, and the NPVC violates the "Guarantee Clause."
