Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold appeared before a legislative committee Thursday, before the chair shut down questioning and Secretary reportedly "ran from the room."
The news of the hearing came around the same time as former CDoS staffer Suzanne Taheri reportedly filed a complaint against Griswold for campaign announcement violations.
From Colorado Peak Politics:
"The campaign to replace Jared Polis as governor has barely gotten off the ground and yet Jena Griswold already stands accused of violating state campaign finance law. That’s gotta be a record. The Secretary of State office that Griswold holds now is responsible for enforcing the campaign law in question, so the complaint was initially filed with her office.
Since Griswold can’t investigate herself, even though she tried to on another serious matter last year, the complaint has been forwarded to Attorney General Phil Weiser for further investigation. Colorado Politics writes that is supposed to avoid a conflict of interest, which is hilarious because Weiser announced last month he is also running for governor. Only in Colorado, right?"
Jena is having a rough day. Let's hope it's the first of many.
