Did you know there was a Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media?
"The Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media (COFTM) attracts and facilitates content creation in the state to generate economic growth. It promotes the state's film and television industry locally, nationally, and internationally while highlighting Colorado's unique rural areas. Colorado film incentives have generated $116.6M in economic impact to 55 counties in Colorado and created over 3,700 cast and crew positions since its inception."

To take a piece of the movie market, however, Colorado needs to invest and attract projects to come to the Centennial State. Two pieces of legislation, signed by Governor Polis last month, are a start. The first piece of legislation guarantees $5M annually in film incentives, and the second paves the way for the state to purchase the Stanley Hotel.
Legislators are excited about making movies, but perhaps we should have a conversation about whether a state-owned movie industry is a proper priority for Colorado at this time.
