Summer 2024 should be called the “Summer of Safety,” and not because it’s safe.
It’s an appropriate moniker because it’s the summer the government decided to ignore safety and gaslight citizens that high crime is a welcome byproduct of being so tolerant and empathetic.
High crime is a virtue, in other words. Let’s check in on how it’s going.
- Denver Post (August 10): “Three teenagers shot during Friday night party in Boulder.
- The shooting happened in the area of Euclid Avenue and 14th Street around 11:30 p.m.”
- Denver Gazette (August 10): “4 minors arrested after allegedly firing at Aurora police officers”
- CPR News (August 12): “A wave of violence leaves six dead in Adams County…There were six homicides in 36 hours in Adams County, one in Aurora and five in Commerce City — a single weekend that matched that city’s typical homicide count for a full year.”
- FOX31 (August 19): “Aurora police, Colorado agencies create gang violence task force…to address the city’s concerns about the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.”
- KOAA News5 (August 20): “Neighbors of the east side of Pueblo say crime is out of control. Some told News5 they feel so unsafe they considered moving out of the city.”
That’s just a small sampling, and just from the past few weeks in August. Crime was rising in July. It was already historic back in May.
In fact, as we reported in May, Neighborhood Scout said of Denver, “one’s chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime in Denver is one in 13,” one of the highest crime rates in the nation.
The watchdog claims Denver ranks “1” on the crime index. 100 is the highest and safest. This ranking means Denver is safer than just 1% of US cities. Said another way, 99% of all US cities are safer than Denver.
And these latest stories from August suggest the trend isn’t confined to Denver.
It only took a few years of unchecked communism to destroy Colorado residents’ way of life and make everyone less safe.
We really need to make Colorado great again. It has to start with removing the communists.
